Our Scholarships

8th Grade Scholarships

 

Each year our Foundation awards several $100 scholarships to eighth grade students from our local Aromas and San Juan Elementary Schools.

 

OVERALL EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIP - This award will be presented to a student who has maintained a high level of academic excellence and has been an active participant in the school community. Teachers recommend one 8th grade student for this scholarship award and write a brief explanation of the recommendation. No student essay is required.


SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP - “Soaring Hawk Scholarship” This award will be presented to a student who has overcome personal obstacles and succeeded in finding his/her unique path to learning. Teachers recommend one 8th grade student for this scholarship award and write a brief explanation of the recommendation. No student essay required.


EXCELLENCE IN A SECOND LANGUAGE - This award will be presented to a student who has demonstrated excellence in learning a second language. Each student applying for this scholarship must write a short essay.


EXCELLENCE IN SERVICE LEARNING - This award will be presented to a student who has demonstrated excellence and commitment to the community through service learning. Each student applying for this scholarship must write a short essay.

High School Scholarships

 

There are five $1000 Anzar High School scholarships that the Foundation awards each year.


A more detailed description of the selection criteria for each award is included at the top of each application sheet.  While applicants can only be awarded one $1,000 ASJBCSF scholarship, we encourage you to apply for multiple or even all of the categories, as a $500 Bonus will be awarded to the student with the most impressive and comprehensive overall submission.

Aromas San Juan Community Schools Foundation 


 

1. Soaring Hawk 1 - This scholarship is awarded to a student who has successfully met and overcome challenges in their education. These challenges could be learning disabilities, language barriers, emotional or family issues.


Application Criteria: Graduating Anzar High School Student


2. Soaring Hawk 2 - First Generation College Student

This scholarship has been established to recognize excellence in a student who has successfully met challenges in their education. These challenges could be learning disabilities, language barriers, emotional or family challenges. For the ‘Soaring Hawk 2’ scholarship, special emphasis is placed on students who will be the first in their family to attend college/university.


Application Criteria:

1) Graduating Anzar High School Student

2) First generation college student


3. Science/Math/Technology - This scholarship is awarded to a student who can aptly describe their educational experience in this category and how they plan to incorporate that experience as they continue their education and career.


Application Criteria:

1) Graduating Anzar High School Senior

2) Applicant must have successfully completed 8 semesters of science, math, and/or technology course-work


4. Outstanding Post Graduation/Service Learning Exhibition Scholarship - This scholarship has been established to recognize a student for excellence in future goal setting and planning for achievement of those future goals. The recipient of this scholarship must be planning to pursue post-secondary education, which could be 2-4-year college, vocational schools/programs, etc. For example, a student planning to enroll in a training program in a trade might apply for this scholarship.

Application Criteria:

1) Graduating Anzar High School Senior

2) Completion of Post Graduate Plan Exhibition



5. "Harvey Nyland" Service Learning Award - This scholarship has been established to recognize a student who has gone far and beyond the Service Learning requirement for Anzar graduation, embodying the essence of selfless service to community
